- Protect your Medicare number: Only give your Medicare or Social Security numbers to your doctors or other clinical providers.
- Protect your medical information: Be cautious of people — beyond your regular health care providers — who ask to see your medical records.
- Be vigilant: Guard your Medicare card like it’s a credit card. Plus, report providers who claim they know how to get Medicare to pay for services not normally covered.
